Abused Little Boy

by foreverhappy   Nov 7, 2005

The little boy hides in his room
Staying as quite as a mouse
His parents just came home
The smell of alcohol fills the house

They start arguing
The little boy lays in his room and cries
Sometimes in his dreams
He wishes he would just die

The fighting has gotten louder
The little boy peeks out of his door
He sees his father hit his mother
And he just can't take anymore

He comes out of his room
Yelling for him to stop
He remembers being hit once
And everything else was forgot

Years pass by
And nothing has changed
His parents still drink and fight
It's all still the same

The little boy is now sixteen years old
And taking care of everything
His parents are never there
Not knowing what kind of pain that brings

He goes to school
Pretending life is so great
But when he comes home
All he has are feelings of hate

He wishes things were different
As he lays there in bed
Millions of thoughts
Racing through his head

His parents are home now
He turns out his light
Pretending he's asleep
Pretending he can't hear them fight

His father comes in
Pulls him right out of bed
Beating the shit out of him
Blood trickles from his head

The boy finds the strength
To kick him away
He runs to the neighbors
And they don't know what to say

He picks up the phone
And calls the law
But when they show up
They couldn't believe what they saw

The police said it was OK
but the boy wasn't to go
Or he would go to jail
So the boy went to bed letting it all go

When we got to school
They all saw his black eye
He said he got into a fight
And that wasn't a lie

Nobody had known
What he went through that night
Or how when he went to sleep
He feared the loss of his life

Nobody understood
Why we acted like he did
Acting out for attention
Just wanting to be a kid

He just wanted to be loved
And his parents to love him
But everyday he was at home
He stayed far away from them

He goes through his life
Being responsible kid
Taking care of himself
Like his parents never did

he stays quiet every night
Waiting till he turns 18
So he can leave his house
And forgot all that he's seen

That's really sad, but you created such great imagery with this poem, that I feel like the boy himself told me what hell he was going through. I really enjoyed this poem, and you deserve a 5/5! ~luv always, kt
