Three Cord Country Became Rock

by Bill Turner   Nov 7, 2005

When did country and rock combine?
One helluva sound
Even a blues influence makin it fine
It is startin' to get around

The arena is filled with smoke and lights
Thundering drums and heavy guitar riffs
Lasers, stage shows and all the sights
Gone are the days of singin' country stiffs

The audience has changed so much
Half the folks are country and half rock
They crank out three cord country with a touch
Of hardcore American rock

Trace Adkins found the way
Brooks and Dunn are singing along
Rascal Flatts are doin' it today
Keith Anderson has mastered that style of song

I've feasted on metal all my life
Rock n Roll is the only way I would go
Introduced to this blend by my future wife
Now I do not want to miss a show
