There's nothing I can say right now
to explain the way you make me feel.
I close my eyes and pinch myself
to be certain that you are real.
With you I know that I can be myself,
and there's no end to us having fun.
I never see the enclosing darkness
because your smile is like the sun.
You brighten up the dreariest of my days
and chase away my ghosts.
Your childishness makes you seem dumb,
though I know you're smarter than most.
But I love you for your childishness
and the way you keep my heart smiling.
Like a true friend you warm my soul
and make my spirit sing.
