I hope he's not too late

I gazed into the sky last night
Do you know what I prayed?
I wished I could be healed
That my soul could be saved

I climbed up onto my roof
And watched the stars shine
I hoped my true love
Would come here and be mine

And I waited on that roof
Through that cold night
Tears froze on my cheeks
As my lover did not come into sight

He promised he would come
"I'll be there if you need me"
well I need him now
why can't he see?

What happened to that warrior
That said he'd fight by my side
I would of never of thought
He'd leave me staring at the sky

I always thought I'd be in his arms
Protected in his embrace
But do you know what he'd see
If he were now to look upon my face

He'd see a girl alone
Fighting to stay alive
And do you know how hard that is?
Without someone by your side

I'm braking down without him
And he doesn't even know
All I wish is that he was here
That I was no longer alone

I know he'll come one day
I guess I just have to wait
I just hope he comes soon though
I hope he's not too late...
