Broken Playground

by michelle   Nov 9, 2005

As I look out the window,

I see nothing but emptiness and pain.

I start to think of how it used to be,

Laughter, happiness, cries of joy.
Now it's just a dead deserted playground.

The sun doesn't shine any more

On that once bright silver slide.

It's all rusted up.

From the years it sat all by itself.

And those swings,

The ones that when so high,

Are now laying on the ground

With broken chains.

There's not a soul in sight.

It seems no one has been here in years.

Remember the blue painted monkey bars,

And how fun they used to be?

They are now chipping,

And not so much fun with the sharp edges.

I remember it was so much fun back in the day

When we were care free.

Remember the club house?

"No Boys Allowed."

Or

"What's the password?"

Where the club house once stood is now,

Just an empty spot.

I guess everything must change,

And you can never go back to how it used to be.
