I Don’t Know.

by Daphne Darling   Nov 9, 2005

When you step outside,
Do you expect to raise a sword?
Or do you just expect to live alone?

When you step outside,
Do you expect to be a victim of useless battles?
Or do you just expect freedom?

When you step outside,
Do you expect to be shot down?
Or do you just hope for a happy ending?

When you step down the stairs,
Can you see the flashing lights?
And the billowing smoke?

Or are you a useless pawn,
In games you just don’t wanna play,
Moved along a chessboard unwillingly,

When night time falls,
Do you expect to see the stars?
Or are your eyes sightless voids?

When you step outside your door,
Are you thrown in a pit?
And left to defend yourself?
