I once believed....

by Betsy Price   Nov 9, 2005

My head lies on the pillow
My silent tears run down my face,
I ran so hard, for so long,
But I am finally ending the race,

Left to my own demons,
I remember and I dwell,
On things that were, and are to come
Yet I still wish you well,

I cry in the shower,
Praying it would drown away my pain,
I am swarmed with thoughts of you,
Consumed by regret and shame,

When your young you believe,
In what the stories said
Of everlasting love,
Of roses crimson red,

You believe in white horses,
Of people good and true,
They leave out all the lies,
That those roses are really blue,

What is real has such contrast,
To the stories that you so believed,
And the love you longed for so much
You realize, can never be achieved.

Any feedback is awesome...thanks
