Just For Today

I will life to its fullest.
I will accept life
on its own terms.
I will not live
in a make believe world.

I may not always
like the way things are
but I will take life
one day at a time.
Life is for the living.

I will know a new freedom.
I will remember the past
but don't have to live in it.
I will think of the future
but will not be tied down in it.

I will treasure this moment
and will be with those around me.
I will share with others
what it is like to feel human.
I will accept reality.

I will try to shut the door
on the past
because it is what
made me what I am.
I believe in me.
