The Judas Kiss

by Lyn   Nov 10, 2005

She saw herself only through his eyes,
At first he came on strong,
But then 'twas only to despise,
He stole her treasured song.

Patience wasn't on the cards,
She had to have him then,
She couldn't see the poison
Dripping from the pen.

Her heart was pierced by actions
And words of faithless gall;
Before ..... she was a princess
But now her heart is torn.

He tore it out and screwed it up,
He warned her so he said,
Never could she measure up;
She shrank back and she bled.

Everything she stood for,
The precious love she gave,
Was never valued by the boy
She started out to save.

He used her faith against her
Pretending to repent,
But his account is all dried up,
All his chances spent.

Now, just once too often
He took the devil's side,
By playing mindgames with her head,
His dear,sweet, lovely bride.

But God will not be mocked like this
Observing from the skies,
He knows too well the Judas kiss,
The torment and the lies.

He loves His little daughter so
And He will set her free,
From all that keeps her crippled
And drives her to her knees.

She'll hear her name from God's own lips
Her heart made whole again,
In His own arms He'll cradle her
Forgiving all her sin.

If she can only put behind
The terrors of her past,
She will inherit all His strength
And be set free at last.

It's difficult to comment on a poem that is as personal as this...
The flow was excellent and the rhyming as well. I can relate 100% to being betrayed and so the poem touched me deeply.
Sadly so, we cannot find love or friendship without trust and to find it abused by those who outsmart us is so very painful.
I hope the pain will eventually subside.

    Take care,
