Terrible Mistake

I know I hurt you and said good-bye,
But every word I said was just a lie.
I need you now more than ever,
I had always thought we would be forever.
Lost in a darkness from which I can't escape,
Suddenly feeling nothing but hate.
I meant to say I love you but it came out wrong,
I said that without you I would be strong.
Now that you're gone I realize my mistake,
And now it is with pain that my heart aches.
I was so foolish to let you go,
My love for you just seems to grow.
Now I have to live my life in pain and regret,
For a mistake I made and will never forget.
I know I hurt you but can I have you back?
It seems you are the part of my life that I lack.
I am begging for a second chance,
I want more than just a forgotten romance.
If you won't take me back I will belong to no one,
I will love you even until my life is done.
You were my first love and my last,
You are perfect and cannot be surpassed.
Though you may soon forget all about me,
I will wait forever I hope you will see.
It was only in your arms that I felt protected,
By the words in our hearts we were connected.
I made the biggest mistake in my life,
Now the words I couldn't take back are forgotten with the knife.
