My Favorite Tree

by Matthew A.   Nov 11, 2005

This is a poem to remember my favorite tree
since it was always alittle special to me.
All the times I spent climbing up it.
Reaching to the top branch and looking for a place to sit.

Jumping off the tree was always fun,
which never ended till I couldn't see the sun.
I would swing with the tire I tied to you.
But when it broke off, I didn't know what else to do.

When I found my true love, I carved our names on your bark.
We even climbed up you when it was getting dark.
The fun we shared never seemed to end
until I had to move, it made me feel like I lost my best friend.

Leaving all the memories that I ever had.
Feeling lonely and ending up sad.
Knowing that our paths will never meet again
makes me want to go back to where it all began.

After many years had pasted, I went back to see you.
You looked so beautiful covered in the morning dew.
But when I got to you it was to late
because they were going to cut you down on this very date.

You were cut down on the spot where I used to play
and I saw the man who cut you down and yelled hey.
I asked him if I could keep your remains
and he said sure, you can have it in a couple of days.

When I got you, I took you to a shop
and asked the man if I could turn you into a mop.
Then I decided to make you into a table
since you were a tree made up of maple.

Today, we still spend time together.
And I promise that it will last forever.
You are my best friend till this very day
and every time I walk by you I whisper hey...

Wow, what a beautiful and inspiring poem. I can tell that this tree had a lot of sentimental value to it. You did a wonderful job. Keep writing and take care.
