Last Words

Once upon a time
A girl was left in pain
With nothing else to live for
And nothing else to gain

She wore a happy face
And did good for a while
Even though her heart was broken
She still remained to smile

She would look in her mirror
And see a happy face
But her pain was on the inside
A pain no smile could erase

No one really knew
Her emotions didn't show
She just sat there with her pain
And continued to feel so low

One day she couldn't take it
Gods name was used in vein
When she stole the kitchen knife
To rid her of the pain

She was never suicidal
She didn't mean to die
The blade had pressed too deep
And cut her from this lie

As she lay there on her back
With blood stains on her bed
Her Mom walks in the room
And sees her daughter almost dead

Before she slipped away
A tear streamed from her eye
She whispered to her Mom
"I didn't want to die."
