Is This What God Has Willed

by Lyn   Nov 12, 2005

I see a little human child,
Unfurled a human bud,
Our brother or our sister
And on our hands its blood.

These killing fields we should abhor;
This clinical invasion;
Sterile hands, with hearts to match
Dehumanise our nation.

We close our eyes, our minds, our hearts,
The god of choice we bow to;
He blinds our eyes, we cannot see,
We have forgotten how to.

For truth and justice do not reign
On earth, so we must fight,
God will not avert His eyes,
He sees the unborn's plight.

He sees if we are quite content
To let the weak ones perish,
If we condone destruction,
Where He would have us cherish.

Bodies broken,
Heartbeats stilled ..........
Is this really
What God has willed.

Some of you who read this poem will be uncomfortable with its content. I make no apology for caring about the fate of the weakest members of society. Who will speak up for them? Being unwanted is not a crime so why do we execute the unwanted, unborn babies.

    This is a poem that we all need to read.
    I found myself in its grip after the second line.
    The way you acknowledged to destructive attitude of society as normalcy touched me so deep that I had no choice but to smile through the tears. To me this is a poem in which the poetry needs no praise , but only the acknowledgement of the message spoken .I found it healing just by the volumes it spoke to me. 5/5
