The entire beginning, first three stanzas, reminds me of make up. And how it masks the true beauty of anyone.

The idea of pain is felt very well throughout each stanza. I make this observation, because I believe the timeless shapes, blackness, & grazing chains ... all symbolize the downfall of the human shine. The glimmer, if you will.

How you articulate and allow the audience to be entrapped in this delicate imagery ... it is well beyond understood - the pain, solace & loss of grace. The fall, if you will.
