Breaking Free

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Nov 12, 2005

Years of anger kept within, until I discovered
The magic of escaping reality; the magic of running.

Pounding the memories of the past, I ran.
I ran from who I was, frightened and tormented.
I ran from what he did to me, haunted.
As I ran, I found the freedom I longed for.

Anger pounds on the asphalt as I advance.
Sweat glistens on my back as I accelerate.
My heart beats faster as my pace quickens.

I now run toward my future, burning so bright.
I run forward, leaving the memories behind.
Finally moving on, after years of darkness.

In the distance, the sun breaks from the night.
Colors bleed into the horizon, hope.
Running toward my future, breaking free from the past.
