143-6375

He meant the world to me
It's just that he didn't know
I really, really loved him,
But I didn't want it to show

He's my very best friend
To him I'm nothing more
I want to show him what I've got
i want to show him what's in store

I want to be the very best
That I can ever be
I want him to notice
That he should be with me

One day I was truly surprised
When he handed me a note
With seven little numbers
And that's all he wrote

"143-6375"
Was all the tiny note said
I wondered what was going on
What was happening in his head?

Was this his new number?
Was he moving away?
I hoped he wasn't moving
I really wanted him to stay

I couldn't take the fact
That I couldn't tell him how I feel
But I had bigger issues
Was this note for real?

When I saw my friend in math class
He seemed very shy
As I came up to him
His eyes started to go wide

I asked him what the note was for
As he averted his gaze
This wasn't my best friend
His smile had seen better days

Before I answer your question, he said
Can you please sit down?
I looked at his large brown eyes
I knew something was coming, and I didn't like the sound

I braced myself for bad news
As he took a breath
Well, uh..my note really meant..
I waited for him to confess

143 means I love you,
And 637 means forever and always...
I looked at him in surprise,
And felt his admiring gaze

The five is just the letters of my name
Please, girl will you accept?
Be my girl and ill love you
Cherish you like this secret I've kept

I'll treat you like MY queen
And forever and always be true
Wasn't it always obvious,
That I've always loved you?

His eyes looked at me pleadingly
As my heart took a leap
I smiled at him and said
My love for you is just as deep.

He looked at me and laughed
As he took me in his arms
I loved the feel of his touch
In this embrace so warm

I guess I didn't have to spill
My heart out to my friend
Because he's the one who took the chance
All in the very end
