A Dozen.

by Kristen   Nov 14, 2005

I've got one dozen roses,
Do you know where they go?
I've got one dozen apologies,
Do you know how they go?
I've got one dozen kisses,
Do you know why they stopped?
I've got one dozen bullets,
Do you know who I shot?
Shh, please don't tell them
I didn't mean it, I swear
It was an accident as far as you know
And away the body goes
But I don't cry.
I wish you hadn't either
We were both there to see it,
We were both there to feel it
Something so horrible
Happened so fast
With a blink of an eye
And a shot through the head
A ticking clock stops on the hour
1:00am it said.
Do you remember?
Remember what I said
I've got one dozen roses,
Do you know where they go?
I've got one dozen apologies,
Do you know how they go?
I've got one dozen kisses,
Do you know why they stopped?
I've got one dozen bullets,
Do you know who I shot?
One dozen roses to be put on my grave,
One dozen apologies in a poem with your name,
One dozen kisses blown straight from your hand,
One dozen bullets,
And eleven shot me dead.
And you were there to see
As hard as it may be
You wrote a poem just like this
But without apologies,
Without kisses,
Without bullets
Except the one you shot
Shot through my head to make sure I was dead
And next a bath tub full of blood.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue
A coffin for me,
A coffin with you
One dozen roses to be set by your grave,
One dozen apologies in a poem with my name,
One dozen kisses blown straight from your hand,
One tiny bullet, to make sure I was dead.
A bath tub full of water,
A bath tub full of blood,
A bath tub full of you,
A bath tub full of love.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Roses are dead,
And my lips are now blue.
