Sometimes a tear is one sprouting from joy
From something as small as a pretty little toy
A piece of happiness sprung from sheer emotion
Knowing that there is such a content devotion
Sometimes a tear is the pain you release from inside
A dream ruined from musings that some how fell too short
And sometimes its the disappointment of not succeeding when tried
Or the immense void of a heartache of sorts
Sometimes a tear is believing in something and being let down
A simple smile turned into a beguiling frown
A dagger pierced straight through your heart
A future planned out--just torn apart
Sometimes a tear is opening your heart and having it broken in two
A simple "I love you" and then a calmly articulated adieu
A pain of finally letting someone in, falling for their charming grin
And hitting the ground so hard because you finally made the decision to drop your guard
Sometimes a tear is an aspiration abandoned and weak
...and sometimes a tear is a tear just falling down your cheek!
