Disguised as a friend

by Bradley Peter   Nov 15, 2005

Intoxicated by the words you say
i gaze into you deep blue eyes
and every time you turn away
i almost shed my cunning disguise

to you I'm just your closest friend
but to me you mean so much more
keeping this secret i twist and bend
my wasted heart lies on the floor

I've tried to tell you so many times
but my mouth never releases a voice
so I'm writing it down in flowing rhymes
because i just see no other choice

i love you Kirsty, this has always been
holding this inside has hurt me so
all this time you've never seen
but when you read this now you'll know

*this poem isn't about me and my ex-girlfriend. its about my brother and his best friend who he is totally besotted with*

This poem is so endearingly wonderful. I feel this way about my closest friend, and I do express my feelings through poetry, but I don't think I can ever be brave enough to tell him. Perhaps that's why I like this poem so much-other than the fact that your poetry is so beautiful.
