I'd never have said those cruel words.

Instead of the words you heard.

I wouldn't have ripped your heart in two.

I would have wiped away the tears.
I would have promised everything would be OK,
I would have taken away your fears.

Only if I could go back in time,
Everything may be OK.
Only if I could hear you say you love me once again,
Maybe you would stay.

Only if you could hold me,
To take away my fears.
Maybe things would be alright,
After the passing of these years.

Only if our memories didn't hurt,
And they actually made me smile.
Maybe I wouldn't be hurting,
And I wouldn't have to force that smile.

The sun would be shining in my sky.
