Frigid

by DT   Nov 16, 2005

I walk among the frozen trees
Listening to the eerie rain
Whispering it's quiet toon
As it gently rattles the nimble branches

The ground benieth my feet
Gives way in a gentle crunch
And I watch my foot
Swallowed by the pile of white

I see the red flash
Of a Cardinal winding through forest
I watch it land onto a rock
And stare at me so deeply

The air holds me in it's cold grasp
As I watch my breath fog before my face
And I see the glint of icicles hanging the trees

The winter world
So beautiful and peacefull
So wild and untamed
Though frigid is it's wake.
