Leaves are turning, Fall is here. The air is nippy, Full of autumn cheer. As the holidays approach And the snow comes down, The mood improves There\'s nary a frown. The snow is coming, School begins. The colours fly, As the rainbow leaves spin. Life is dieing. In a way, It\'s beautiful Almost everyday. Death and rebirth It\'s all included In the cycle of fall and winter The colours are more bright than diluted. School children are back, Studying hard. Trying not to turn and run To the leaves in the yard. Evenings are spent \'round a fire Sharing stories and warming up, With cider and soup, We break bread and sup. The trees are turning inward, Waiting for spring, To come with her magic And bells to ring. The leaves are headed, Down to the Earth Waiting paitiently For raking and rebirth. The air is light, As we near the new year Holloween and Thanksgiving We prepare with good will and good cheer. Animals are preparing For the long winter to come. Squirrils with nuts and berries, Birds call, we recognize some. As the foul migrate, We see many kinds, Calling and forming Intricate designs. The cold is coming, We want human company To talk to and sing with It could be anybody. New beginnings and new endings, With these we face the fall. What will the new year bring? Who knows as we wait in autumn\'s hall. The autumn rain is light Like feathers on your shoulders It mists upon the bonfire Just so it smolders. Brooks are singing joyously Their last before the snow\'s here And the winter freezes them. Till they sense spring is here. We smell the decay of the leaves, Yet it\'s the sweet perfume of this time. The wind that carries it is gentle, But can turn on a dime. Crops are coming now, We hurry to be done. Each harvester singing his song of the season, Working but having fun. I\'ve summed up autumn, As best as I can. The falling leaves and flying coulours As if blown by a fan, Are spirited away As we start anew, Beginning and ending Without a clue.
