In a Heartbeat

by Leah   Nov 18, 2005

I looked in upon her
suffering eyes
knowing any day
could be her last
her father beat
her mother long ago,
which was something
lingering in her past.

I looked upon her bruises
which were her fathers hatred presented on her skin

all the blue tears
I noticed running from her eyes
were leaking past her chin.

I looked onto her bed table
fresh cut flowers lay at her view
if someone would understand her pain if only someone knew.

The snow was falling so close
you could almost touch
right outside her window
but the white and blood were just to much.

She sat there looking streight at me trying to understand me from inside I felt she was reading my heart within a heart I could not hide.

A beeping noise went off and a red light shone over her bed

a nurse rushed in and starting whispering
\"This girl cannot be dead\"

All histeria broke out
and I ran farther from the room
I could help to watch her
to believe that was also my doom.

I awake the next morning having forgotten the night before
I ran back to her room
but I stoped at her door.

Her body had been removed
replaced with an old man
and the tears were leaking down my cheeks just how everything had began.

For I was the girl who slept next to her the nights she beakened for me in pain

I looked around my neck

I was the one who was wearing her
best friend chain

I was in the hospital
for the same deasese as her
but now all the past memories
are just a broken beaten blurr.

My tears were leaking
my eyes were worren thin
my tears were leaking
so much faster and
they leaked down at my chin

one fell to the floor
so I looked down at my feet

in a day,
in a moment,
in a single heartbeat.
