Heart Broken Alcoholic

by Emily   Nov 19, 2005

He wanted to drink his pain away
As he brought the bottle to his lips
Attempting to forget everything
Slowly sip by sip

He began to lose himself
Not in happiness but depression
She was the only thing on his mind
She was his obsession

Bottle after bottle,
Whiskey went by too fast
He saw no future for himself
While reflecting on the past

Maybe it was a comfort
Or just a way to escape
With Alcohol as his companion
He drank his life away

The bartender felt sorry
And tried to be his friend
But this man already had company
His dear friend Jack Dan

When closing time would come
He'd stumble out of the bar
People'd often wonder
If he could make it in his car

One night he stumbled out
Of course drunk as can be
Tried to make it home alone
And crashed into a tree

Nobody could get that bottle away
And even he couldn't stop it
It's just another sad story
Of the Heart Broken Alcoholic

Ah, I was listening to George Straight. Don't we all get temped to write alcoholic listening to country whiskey?
