Stuck in the Past

Silently you suffer
Remorsefully you cry
Deep within you wonder
what more is there to try

I die a little more
when I think of what he did
He ripped apart your soul
when you were just a kid

Now you blame yourself
Your innocence got the best
Slowly I see you fading
wanting to be at rest

It creeps into your mind,
the memories run so deep
It crushes you to pieces
Each time you fall asleep

You hide behind a mask
I barely know it's you
No one seems to listen
They don't know what to do

You feel you're on your own
Who could understand?
Angel, please turn to me
You'll find a reaching hand

I'm not here to hurt you
I only want what's best
I want to help you through this
So you can be at rest

I've discovered the real you
And everything you are
I couldn't love you more
You are my shining star

I'd give anything at all
To take away your pain
I'd give to you my life
Just to keep you sane

I'd be nothing if I lost you
And I'll never let you go
I need you more than anything
More than you could know

Stay strong, and please hold on
Don't hold back your smile
It's the only thing that tells me
This life is worth my while

This is dedicated to someone very dear to me. This may not be one of my best poems, but every word of it is true. I love this person with all of my heart, and it destroys me to see her in so much pain.
