This Is What Happens...

Up near the grave as I pause to stand
I took my favorite necklace off and put it in my hand
Everyone who was watching
Did not make a sound
As a gush of tears poured to the ground
And through my mind the memories ran
Of the moments I remember the most
"When you carried me in the sand"
But now your eyes are closed shut
And I will never again have you by my side
Everyone stood in silence as I reached up high and whispered the words "I love you Daddy" in your ear
As I touched your arm I started to cry
Then I put my favorite necklace into your casket
I just stood there wanting to die
Just then the wind began to blow as they lowered your casket into the snow.
This is what happened to my daddy because his friends let him drink and Drive
