Runaway

by mySilentCrY   Nov 26, 2005

Peroxide dawn streaks the skies pale salmon
before sleep occurs to him. the drug,
hunkering into his personal shadows,
gurgles what it roared when,
swallowed in his fanciful shock wave,
he declared the cool dust motes
flickering out beyond the scudding cirrus
mere phosphines transformed.

the dew weights him to the hardening
twigs, divulged roots and stones, knots
twisting his back and throat.
The sun scrapes its determined course;
his splash has rippled and sunk,
his socket is waiting,
his knees know the way.
He trickles towards clean, cool sheets,
blinking the stars from his eyes
far past the searing blue skies.
