Desert Flower

by RainbowSlider   Nov 26, 2005

In the desert
the temperature
is hot
but at night
it is cold.
Your cool love
helps in the day
and your hot love
helps in the night.
During the day
I stay
by the oasis
with you
under the palm trees.
But at night
I go to the desert flower
out in the desert
and the lovely water
quenches my thirst.
Your soft petals
are so tender
but they are guarded
by cactus thorns.
I know to be careful
because the thorns
they hurt.
So I admire
the beauty
of the flower
and softly caress
the petals.
I know if I pick
the flower
it would wilt
so I let grow
and bloom.
The deep roots
of the cactus
bring it water
and it thrives
in the desert
under the hot sun
of day
and the cold
of night.
