Death of a Heart

by Kevin J   Nov 27, 2005

He see's you there, his eyes come alight
He feels his stomach fall as if from fright

He asks to meet you, the answer is no
His insides twist as you turn to go

He later see's you near the carousel
His heart rings clear like a fine silver bell

He escorts you to your equestrian seat
He says it's been you he's wanted to meet

And as the ride turns merrily round
He finds his feet won't touch the ground

He see's you often, but that's his plan
He plans to see you whenever he can

You fill his dreams, his hearts desire
You fuddle his mind with sweet quagmire

He stays with you for so very long
He still hears the bell as loud as a gong

He loves your face so full of smiles
It takes him far, so many happy miles

He's still in love, as the years seem to glide
They had their problems but he loves with pride

They moved around from here to there
He was in love it didn't matter where

He gave whatever he had to give
He wanted only with her to live

The children they had added just the right touch
They filled their lives with happiness so much

The children they cared for kept them happy and warm
He so much loved this family they had come to form

They moved some more and life seemed to falter
Her love and feelings just seemed to alter

He tried his hardest he tried his best
It seemed she wanted to forget the rest

She had crushed his heart smashed his pride
It would seem it was too hard he had tried

She took his life and happiness away
He tried and tried, but she would not sway

She chose a path and walked further on
Their lives together were suddenly gone

He talks to the children each day on the phone
He sees them and notices how much they have grown

Their long life together was quite ripped asunder
How could he have made such a disastrous blunder?

He looks back sadly no dream in his head
His mind and heart feel like they are dead

He gets up and tries to cope through the day
He wonders why life would deal cards that way

He see's her face in his minds eye and sadly smiles
We had so far yet to go, so many more miles

She has what she wants, to do as she will
His heart is hers to stomp on and kill

He feels his mind become empty and numb
A place where love will never more come
