My Life is One Giant Car Wreck (but I\'m not driving)

by Tori   Nov 28, 2005

Hanging out with friends.
Late night movies.
Two a.m. trips up the mountains.
Cuddling in the back seat.
Never feeling happier.
Wondering if he likes me.
He asks if its okay to hold my hand,
To have his arm around me.
Bliss.
Utterly unimaginable.
I think he\'s funny and cute.
He thinks I\'m sweet and pretty.
Parking at a lookout point,
We fall asleep in eachothers arms for two hours.

He wakes me up.
He gets in the driver\'s seat,
While I sit upright.
I push the seatbelt out of my way and,
I lean my head against the window,
As we begin our decent down the mountain.
I close my eyes and dream of everything wonderful.

I open my eyes.
I \'ve never hurt more in my life.
Sitting in the back seat,
behind the driver,
Looking for Monica,
Hearing Emily\'s voice.
Looking at an unknown woman,
With locks of gorgeous brown hair.
She\'s on a cell phone and wiping my face with a milky wite tissue.
As she pulls it away, it\'s red.

Red?
Blood?
I\'m bleeding?
Why am I hurting so bad?
I cry because my chest is killing me.
I\'m sobbing, and it\'s killing me.
My lower back is turned into an uncomfortable position.
The lady tells me not to move,
She says that everything will be okay.
I\'m still crying and I ask what happened.
I asked where are we?
Monica holds my hand as the paramedics arrive.
She says to squeeze it as hard as I can if I need it.
I try, but it hurts my chest..

I look out the front window,
We hit a tree.
A tree?
Why are we on the other side of the road?
The paramedics came and asked me lots of questions.
They made sure I was as okay as I could be.
They called my dad.
They put me on a stretcher.

Nothing is broken.
Everything is badly bruised.
I busted my eye open.
My nose was bleeding like crazy.
My chest is swollen and sore,
My lower back, kills me.

I learned in the hospital,
He fell asleep.
At the intersection.
Sunday morning.
6 a.m.
He drifted to the other side of traffic,
He hits a tree.
Nobody else is injured.

I\'m an example of what to never do.
Never stay up all night with your friends.
Never let him drive, even if he says he\'s fine.
Never go out without your parents knowing.
Never do something that doesn\'t sound like a good idea.

By the way,
Seatbelts save you from severe injury,
Seatbelts save lives.
