School Year Photo

by Wintersolstice   Dec 2, 2005

I asked every morning until
It arrived
Now its on my bedside table
So your face is what I see
When I wake again
And again-every morn/afternoon

I remember the day it was-
-taken, gave to me now
For mere money:
A Still
-Of that second in time
Your o-so-perfect smile

Perhaps it was foolish
To get this memory framed
I cry...more
Salt tears upon my pillow
Every morn/afternoon
Will it be-
this way for ever
Nay to the first
Possibly to the latter

Frothy beer bubbles
On my top lip
Must be careful
You are not
Making me continually sip
To cure a void
And the picture only emphasises

Alone
Again , the same
Long from now
Maybe I will see
The shadow
On the other side of the photo
That was once me
(But not then
and never again)
But all that will matter
is you
...all Ive ever had of you
Is our school year photo.

Wow this is a really sad poem. I like the melancholic atmosphere that it holds. I love hwo you wrote it and the effect that you gave it by the punctuation and how you worded things. Great job.

I like this piece very much. The sence that i get from reading it is great. It shows the past and how painful it can be at time. It was really well thought out. The flow could use a bit of work i feel, but other than that its excellent. Kat
