Sweet Words Whispered At My Ears

Sweet words whispered at my ears,
Happiness swells inside me,
My cares melt away at the sound of your voice,
So simple, so careless, so free.
Your touch makes my mind go blank,
A blissful peace in my pain,
The one person I see now,
My shelter in the endless rain.
But you cause the rain,
I know that and yet I can't run,
You've become my world,
My day, my night, moon and sun.
My skin shivers and crawls from the feelings you bring,
If I could flee from you I would,
Yet how can you run from something that's part of you?
If only I could.
You know this and I see your hurt,
The anger in your eyes,
But I can't stay for you anymore,
For your 'truth', your pain, your lies.
So I run and I run and I run,
But still you're here at my side,
There is only one way out,
I can't run, can't pretend, can't hide.
I can stay in this world of hate and lies,
This pain squirming in me inside,
Or I can take the easy option,
Create my death, my suicide.
The choice is made,
I can't undo it now, it's too late,
Perhaps I'm supposed to die?Perhaps it's fate.
So I lie here and wait for nature to work,
To take my body and soul,
For death to come
And swallow me whole.
Eventually I feel tired,
A desperate need for sleep,
So I lie down and know its happening,
Feel it take me down so deep.
And you're there until the end,
Lying beside me and begging me to turn back,
But I can't and as I fall into the darkness,
I can't see, it's all simply black.
But I hear you next to me,
Telling me you're sorry, that you love me,
You don't understand why I had to do this
Simply to be free.
I listen to you as my heart stops beating,
As the tears stop falling,
And the last thing I hear
Is your sobbing and your calling.
