Boxes

by Britney Edington   Dec 3, 2005

I have in my hand two boxes
which God gave me to hold
He said put all your sorrows in the black and all the joys in the gold.

I heeded his words and in the two boxes both my joys and sorrows I store but though the gold became heavier the black was as light as before.

With curiosity I opened the black
I had to wonder why
I saw in base of the box a hole
which my sorrows had gone out by.

I showed the hole to god and said
I wonder where my sorrows could be
He smiled a gentle smile
and said child thee here with me.

I asked"god why give me the box
why the black box with a hole
My child the gold is to count your blessing and the black is for you to let go.

This is a great great great poem! It's a great idea and the way u have exressed yourself is great! I saw your comment on the thread about cutting and drugs and stuff and I feel the same way.. I don't see how hurting yourself helps... it just makes things worse... anyways... great poem and btw did you leave a comment on your own poem!?
