Mangled

by Tainted Beauty   Dec 3, 2005

Cries from the mangled wreck are muffled by the sirens,
All around are bodies, people that are dying,

The smoke hides the scene but we all know what happened here,
My eyes are blurred, but I can feel the tears,

The screams and confusion, keep the workers busy,
I lie here and wonder if theyll ever find me,

Metal under my body, I can barely feel its cold, rusty touch,
I try to save myself, but my body wont budge,

I try to scream, but I cant overcome the madness,
I can feel the toxic oils, soaking into my dress,

My eyes begin to close, no; I wont die like this,
But I cant keep it stable, as my body begins to twitch,

And the flash, blinds my vacant eyes,
They stand over me, because they know Im going to die,

I can feel the zipper closing over my bloody corps,
The tag upon my toe, reads number 5724,

I lie beside my friends, and I know Ive lost them too,
Please, next time you dont wear your seatbelt, think it through.

This is a powerful message conveyed so well! I haven't read too many poems from this point of view. It's very creative. Your attention to detail really makes this piece!
