The Unknown

As the sun starts to rise,
all I think is what can I do,
what can I say to make you think
that I'm in love with you.

Because it's the only thing I feel.
It's the only thing I know that's true.
How deep my feelings are,
when it comes to loving you.

You asked me once before,
If I did love you.
I said yes as a friend.
But you caught me by surprise so I didn't know what else to say or do.

The question still remaining in my mind.
to be open with it and tell you true?
Or protect my heart, keep it safe,
by pretending to barely know or like you?

The day coming to it's end,
and you still remain only my friend.
I stare at you from a distance,
but I know this is the happiest I've ever been.
