Reflection on Me

by Laura Ash   Dec 3, 2005

The smile on your face
The weakness in your eyes
The sound of laugh
The mark of dried cries

Eyes so bloodshot
Smile fading away
And soon enough
You had nothing left to say

Laugh kind of weak
A cough at every word
Like it's hurting you inside
Your cutting was what I heard

At first I did not believe,
Cause you seemed so great
I didn't pay attention with you jumping up & down
I guess you never really could wait

But one day
I looked straight into your eyes
I realized that beneath that smile
Are hurtful hidden lies

It was like you were someone else
Full of depression and anger
So confused about everything
I thought you must not be her

You can't be the one
I care for so dearly
My innocent friend
That always helping me see things clearly

But when I saw that sparkle in your eyes
I knew it must be true
That the tears & the blood
Really did belong to you

A moment later
My friend walked in
She looked so worried
When she asked where had I been

I told her I'd be here
Writing a story about the girl I see
She looked confused when she looked around
When I realized the girl was me
