No Place Like Adelaide

Well we pulled up into Sydney,
A city all and well
And sat close to the Harbour
Till in drift this awful smell
The dog, she sat bolt upright
And hid under the car
Then mum jumped up and grabbed dad's keys
And well, she hit the bar!

We decided by a vote
That maybe we shouldn't stay
Us fussy South Australians
know when to run away
The city it was great
The Opera House was grand
The bridge stood tall and mighty strong
No finer in the land

But when it comes to population
Maybe less is best
You boasting little Sydneans
Would you just give it a rest?

They've the Opera House in Sydney and yea, they've a bridge
Just go down to Port Adelaide and there you'll see ours lift!
Now listen to me people
I'm not trying to complain
I'm just telling you all nicely
That there is no place like Adelaide

Now Melbourne may be snazzy
But the weather? I can't trust
A brollie and your sunblock
Are definitely a must!
There's movement down near Flemmington
You can hear the hooves from here!
But we know that our cup day's
At a better time of year

So now you've got the Grande Prix?
Hmmm, no big fuss
You've got big expectations
Coz you had it after us!
But when it comes to a street race
You're better off in Adelaide mate!
We couldn't make the city any easier
For you tourists to navigate!

And when it comes to footy
You may be ahead by miles
But don't you think that it's all over
Coz we'll turn and win in style!

They've that little island home to fairies down in Vic
Well we've got K.I off the Fluerieu's tip
Now listen to me people
I'm not trying to complain
I'm just telling you all nicely
That there is no place like Adelaide
