The Battle Begins

by MickDego   Dec 6, 2005

Upon the Lord's Day, the battle causes alarms
Yet, so quickly that not a soul can react.
Neither side panics, both take up their arms
Seeking control of their territory - what they both presently lack.

Neither side invades and neither side is attacked
But a battle erupts and chaos is the decree.
With the force of a wildfire, the homeland is sacked
But both sides are native, so how can it be?

How can this be? Well, it is quite complex.
The battle erupts because both sides are stirred
And awaken from slumber, thus they're vexed.
Both sides are indigenous, but they both oppose
Each other's existence, which adds further context,
And the struggle begins - tranquility comes to a close.

The Battlefield takes place in my Emotional State.
The Armies are known as Happiness and Depression.
Both are powerful and strong and each other they hate,
So they battle it out for the right of succession.

My heart is so heavy, but infatuation quickens its beat
As both sides fight to control my Emotional State.
One second, so happy, but sadness isn't discrete.
The next, I'm so blue, yet a smile I create.

The stimuli of this battle continues to fuel and to sell
The armies' bitter hatred for each other, for both want control.
The Generals of War, thirsting for power, just propel
Both sides to clash violently - My Emotional State is their goal.
Loneliness and Companionship, the generals, battle like Heaven and Hell
"Take no prisoners," they scream, "for death be their toll!"

Why must they battle? Why can't there be peace?
Like any State of the world, there can't be more than one form
Of a sovereign government, until its existence is ceased
By either force or compliance and force is the norm.

Like Fascism and Democracy, together they can't reign
So the battle rages on through violence and duels.
When it is over, will the Fascist, Loneliness and his Depression remain
Or will it be Companionship and Happiness' sovereignty that rules?
