Jasper

I feel, so, so very light today
I wanna stretch my wings and fly away
up to the clouds way up to the sky
I love the feeling of being so high
my purple and orange and red little wings
float and flutter me right into things
the wind it lifts me right off of a flower
I was sitting there waiting for a little rain shower
so I looked to the east and I looked to the west
oh there was my friend, I loved the best
she came within the warmest Autumn evening
why are you here and why aren't you sleeping?
startled I jumped, I hid, I cried
the giants they scared me, but this time I tried
rub rub, my hind legs together..
I'll soar away, like a floating feather
I'll perch my dainty, tiny little frame
on that cherry tree blossom, but oh what a shame
from the west of my world, the pretty giant came
gave me a reason, even gave me a name
I heard her whisper and I forgot to ask her
why did you name a butterfly Jasper?
now I have a name so gleeful cheerful
wonderful, gladful, making me hopeful
excited, hovering in front of your nose
my tiny antennae curiously glowed
your eyes are so big, and what's that, hair?
you're different from me, but I don't care
you came from the west, one Autumn evening
you wondered why, I wasn't sleeping
the morning sun rises on the day after
I miss the giant, who named me Jasper

Hehe, that's so cute! I love the originality, you don't see poems about being a butterfly around here that often!...well I haven't seen them at all, so it's even more original! Way to go down another path, I love that! hehe, see you 'round the site!
