My Eyes Burn
From these tears
You'd think I'd learn
Over the Years

Not to let you in
Not to let you see
Not to let you know
My paper heart is weak

I should have built a fort
To protect what is not strong
But I do not use my head
When it tells me I am wrong

I think with my heart
My feelings lead the way
My beating heart won't listen
To what my mind has to say

Then the heart is betrayed
And tears begin to fall
I wonder, Why me?
Why do I bother at all...
