Things can only get better

by Billy   Dec 7, 2005

I went to nursery at the age of three,
I could never work out why people picked on me,
I hoped it wasn't because of my disability.
Things can only get better.

My mother died when I was five,
My dad said it was better she didn't survive,
She went through so much pain when she was alive.
Things can only get better.

Not a single thing in my life has gone right,
I haven't seen a glimmer of light,
I'm determined to keep putting up a fight.
Things can only get better.

I'm now seventeen and my dad has gone,
That adds to my list of things gone wrong,
Days now seem ever so long.
Things can only get better.

It's my 21st birthday, I don't have long to live,
I don't mind because I gave all I've got to give,
Besides, my mum is whom I should really be with.
Things can only get better.

It's nearly time; I can feel my chest tightening,
Always remember to not give up fighting,
I hope you have better luck than what's in my writing,
Things can only get better.
