These Few Things

by Jeremy Edmondson   Dec 7, 2005

Few things can open closed eyes like the last flare of a sprit coming from the heart
The last little bit of energy a soul gives off as it heads home
The last breath
The last heart beat
The last realization
The last goodbye
Few things can open closed eyes like the last fight a heart puts up to with hold love
The last gesture of sweetness done because the heart talks it into being
The last kiss
The last word
The last touch
The last memory
Few things can open closed eyes like a marriage
All planed out and beautiful flowers and happiness surrounding and guiding you
The first step toward the groom
The first I do
The first bite of cake
The first I love you
Few things can open closed eyes like child birth
Majestic life with no one care with no one sorrow
The first step
The first word
The first kiss
The first wound to kiss
Few things can open closed eyes like the day the news comes back
The sweet times you are forced to remember
The first dose of radiation
The first hair that falls
The new lease on life
The ability to be un afraid
Few things can open
Few things can open closed eyes like the last flare of a sprit coming from the heart
The last little bit of energy a soul gives off as it heads home
The last breath
The last heart beat
The last realization
The last goodbye
Few things can open closed eyes like a funeral
The coffin so beautiful the sleep that soon ensues
The last viewing
The last words spoken by the priest
The last thump of coffin and dirt
The first life eternal journey over I am home
