You were sure I'd fall to my knees, As soon as you said goodbye, But I just stood there silently, And let you pass me by, You thought I would cry for days, Without you here, But the truth is I never, Never shed a single tear, You never knew I was strong enough, To let you leave with a simple goodbye, Without breaking down, At least asking God why, You went home that day, Expecting me to call you, I never even picked up the phone, That was the last time I saw you, You thought I moved on, Went on living my life, You thought I had erased you, Without even thinking twice, So you began to see other people, Met someone new, You began to fall in love, She brought out the best in you, You soon found out, That she was just like me, No matter what you did, You couldn't get me out of your memory, The way she smiled at you, Letting you know you had her heart, That was the way I smiled at you, From the start, When you looked into her eyes, You knew she was me, We were the same people, Only you loved her differently, She had scars upon her wrist, Which you hated to see, For when you saw each scar, They reminded you of me, You would hold me close, Cry with me all night, Caressing each scar with your touch, I only cut after we would fight, You realized you had made a mistake, That you couldn't breathe without me, You needed me back, Thats what she helped you to see, You told her goodbye, As you once told me, You came by my place, To see if we could still be, That was the night, That everything fell apart, Your life was never the same again, As you found out that you took my heart, I ended my life, The day you said goodbye, You thought you were strong, But you started to break down and ask God why, You stopped in mid sentence, For you knew exactly why, I was dead because of you, All because you said goodbye, You reached into your pocket, For the keys to your car, Instead you pulled out your knife, And created a scar, You fell to your knees, As you carved my name into your skin, You looked up to the sky, And shouted...this is the end.
