Fingertips Can Touch

by RainbowSlider   Dec 8, 2005

I saw you in front
of the looking glass
just sitting.
I came up behind you
and looked into
the mirror too.
You asked a question
and I wondered
are you asking me
or your reflection.
I also wondered
if you was asking yourself
or my reflection.
From afar
I saw you touch the glass
and from afar
I touched the glass too.
So many words
have been exchanged
and here I sit
with my hands together
pondering pictures
talking to pictures
and mirrors seeing mirrors
but at this moment
I know fingertips
can touch
across different worlds
and not in name only
but even hearts, souls
and whole people.
But when I pull
my hands apart
I feel the fingertips
touching glass
but also the whole world.
