Cutters For Attention... I Fell For It Again

*Before people start judging... everybody who reads this should know that I myself am a cutter. THIS POEM IS NOT AIMED TOWARDS ALL CUTTERS... ONLY THOSE WHO DO IT FOR ATTENTION*

You know, I always wonder why people act this way
They change into a different person on a different day
Never knowing the true person someone may ever be
You may see someone in front of you but the real truth you don't see

They call themselves cutters because they think it's cool
They scratch themselves with safety pins and then they act the fool
Then they claim that their life is too f u c k ed up, too tough
When they've got friends, family, and its not at all rough

They put themselves through all the pain they really shouldn't feel
Imagining a f u c k ed up life and convincing themselves its real
But nothing is really ever wrong, its all just one big act
They blame the ones around them for all the love they lacked

They torment other people for all the things gone wrong
Pretending to be a lost soul, for some reason they're not strong
But just look past all the fakeness and all the pain they mention
Then you'll come to understand that it's all just for attention

It hurts to fall for someone's lies that really aren't true
Someone who just stole your heart, had all the trust from you
So next time I feel bad for someone and fall for their stupid lies
I'll be sure to look deep inside and right through their disguise

*This poem is dedicated to a girl who cut for the attention. She had me believe that she really needed help, but in the end I realized that she was just cutting because it's "cool"*

*ATTENTION: I got some comments back saying that "not all cutters cut for attention"... and I was even called shallow. PEOPLE, I cut myself as well and I don't do it for attention so I know for a fact that not all cutters do it for the attention. This poem is not aimed towards all cutters in general... it's about specific cutters who do it for attention, because it's deemed "cool". So please... this isn't an anti-cutter poem... I cut too*

    Well despite some of these dumbass comments who say stupid stuff let me say my opinion. first off i loved the poem and i completely agree. i too am a cutter and am struggling with depression that seems like its getting worse. but ur poem makes so much sense and it makes me angry that people think its kool. im not proud that i cut but its not like i can control it. people who cut for attention..its stupid. to me cutting is a disease that at this stance in my life i am stuck with. but for people who think its kool...that is stupid. oh they want people to feel sorry for themselves...thats stupid. it takes a hurt person to cut but a real sick person to cut because they want attention. that is shallow for them. those are the type of people who make me want to hurt them. its stupid. but anyways i loved the poem. well written and u urself are a very good writer. keep up the good work. 5/5

    This poem is really true.. i myself cut.. i dont do it for attention.. but everybody found out tht i did it && now they think tht i do.. even tho ive done it since the beginning of 7th grade and they just found out bout it at the end of 8th.. I dont see why people think i do it for attention cuz i really would have rather ppl not know bout it.. but oh well i guess..

    Wow. This is pretty much amazing. It speaks the truth. I used to cut, and I hated seeing people do it for attention, and i still hate seeing them do it for attention. It's really not something to be proud of. Weell said.

    I like this poem...i kno what you mean...some girl in my grade does it for attention and its so annoying cause i myself used to cut...i read one girls thing about how she thinks shes one of those...and hun...ur not...you just want someone to feel your pain...im here.
