A Special Bond

They were friends throughout high school
Talked to each other almost every day
Played softball and stayed nights together
And as time went on these two became
To rely on one another, till graduation.

Being one year apart became a problem
When college came, one became a college student
And the other was still back in high school
Within six months, these two friends became
Just friends who rarely seen each other.

Over the next couple years they had made
New loves away at college and found new friends
Slowly, they went from just friends
To acquaintances, people who just knew each other.
Through their busy lives their friendship had died.

When they never imagined becoming friends again,
Tragedies in life became something known
To both of them, and even though they
Had not really spoke in a couple years,
They still relied on each other to be there.

Through the next twelve months, these two became
The friends they were in high school, and more
They finally realized what keeps bringing them together
A special bond not everyone shares, they were
Two friends who shared the same heart.
