As I look over the trench wall, I begin to wonder, Does over the Horizon; Hold more than bullets and artillery thunder? As I look over the trench wall, Thoughts come to mind, Does over the Horizon; Hold Warmth and Love to find? As I look over the trench wall, I start to ponder, Does over the horizon; Guide me to happiness if I chose to wander? As I look over the trench wall I hear the dead manâ??s whistle The whistle which pierces my hopes Bayonet attached. The whistle. As I jump over the trench wall I hear the screams of men around me Realisation sets in, a dagger I will never know what is over the horizon for me. © Copyright of Ben Blackburn - Known as "Ben" on this website.
