Fears of Love

Love is the base of every heart
Love is light in many days
Yet why do I still fall apart
And feel that love is dismay

I've seen so much hope and joy
in the eyes of those around
What is that feeling by a boy
that makes a girl wanna drown

Yet something holds me back
a fear inside my heart
A thing that I have lacked
Through all my strange thoughts

Thoughts of tears on my face
and a broken heart to match
So I guard my heart in case
The disease of pain I catch

I hide my feelings inside
So my heart won't be hurt
But even from what I hide
Some lust in me still lurks

    I can relate to that, in some ways i think it described my boyfriend? maybe him a while ago...
    but, love is the base of my life as well, it brings hope and joy, it keeps us going.
    love is a beautiful thing,
    so happy, yet so devastating

    Awww, you know what, love is the scariest thing there is, but if you surrender to it - it can also be the most rewarding. I know it's deeper than that when someone really is scared of falling in love (trust me I know) but that was my opinion anyway. I currently have my heart broken, but I wouldn't have changed a thing because now I know the feeling that so many others don't get to. Anyway, really well done. I hope to see more of you work, you have really strong writing. Wow!
