Change

by Bill Turner   Dec 12, 2005

Darkness crept into my mind
Making it black as can be
Suddenly feeling blind
No longer living free

Heart turning black and cold
Indifferent to my life
Taking chances living bold
Creating havoc and strife

Misery was all I knew
Leaving a path of pain
Never breaking through
A life of cold dark rain

Never letting anyone in
Keeping people at arms length
Best I could muster was a grin
Life sapping my strength

Eventually finding my way
Opening my heart
Living each and every day
Doing my part

    Bill,

I thought you were in fact writing about my past, I felt such a strong connection with the words, having been there in that cold dark place. I am thankful that I am away from it and as you might say "reborn." This poem has hit home more then you can ever imagine my friend. Thank you for sharing.

    regards,

    Steve
