I Believed You

by Me   Dec 12, 2005

I believed you

I lingered on the beautiful whisper of your lies
I cherished the empty promises you made with your seductive eyes
Like a puppy I followed you
Soaking up every ounce
Utterly mesmerized by every little thing you do

With just a flash of your captivating smile
You had me thoroughly deceived
Like a child, I depended on you
I was blindly naive

You shot your venom through my veins
Like a drug, I needed you
You left me broken, drowning in insufferable pain
You gripped my lungs with your delusive hands
And squeezed the life out of me
Gasping for air,
I watched the diminishment of my precious plans

Your acidic lies scorched my delicate skin
The hidden poison of your treacherous ways
Seeped through my pores and intoxicated me
Your fictitious perfection consumed my thoughts
Consumed my dreams

Like a coward you slipped out, the sky lit by the moon
You silently slithered away, leaving me abandoned and alone
To face the cruelty of the coming day

A living corpse surrounded by shining faces
I robotically move around this place
My tears have gone dry
I survive, though I am completely numb
There is nothing in me left to cry
As time goes by, I torture myself
I've turned into a deteriorating, empty shell
Simply because

I believed you
